About my Ideals which are overload….
By: Condra Antoni

My experience reveals that, growing (number of) age, the more I desire. The more experience, reading, and insight, how many more crossing the hope and aspiration. My wishes are countless.

Previously, when I was in primary, I had two ideals. First, being ambassador. It might come in my mind when I cheated from someone ideal, someone I forgot who. Second, I wanted to be the great fighter like Bruce Lee.i used to watch his films. day after day, my ideals were changed. I wanted to be writer and journalist as well as scientists. That is because of the history of life and read some novels written by a journalist who was scientist and novelist.

And then I wanted to be then writer and the professionalin the same time. It was because of reading the history of life of a writer used to write poems, short stories, and novels, while working as automotive designer. I, then, though to be an Islamic thinker, just like, Azyumardi Azra, Komaruddin Hidayat, Hassan Hanafi, Ali Syari'ati, Seyd Husain Nasr, Fritjchop Schuon, and others.

One day, I again wanted to be a poet when I was watching film of Sylvia Plath the well-known Australian poet. On that film, her husband, Ted Hughes made me impressive when he read poem by wearing coat and tie, like executive. I wanted to change the paradigm of the poets of Indonesia, which tend to be dirty and messy in performing poem. I though a poet should have performance like an executive.

Suddenly I was up in Batam. And suddenly I changed my reading from the books of literature and thought to the books of business and marketing written by Robert T Kiyosaki, Hermawan Kartajaya, Noah St. John. I followed Some entrepreneurship seminars.

Currently, I often call Dr. Sawirman, which became my "savior" in graduating my bachelor(S1)in English Department Andalas University, Padang, Indonesia before. He inspires me to be a linguist in multicultural views.

Then the last few days I often chat with my senior, Bang Donny Syofyan, which is taking his master degree in Australia. He is brilliant and low-profile person. He will return from Australia with two degrees, the Master of Human Resource Management and Master of Literature.

Sharing ideas with Bang Donny makes me want to fly to Australia tomorrow morning to work in there and take the Master of Applied Linguistics. Then two years later I go back to Indonesia with a lot of money and a sweet tittle of master degree after my name. I also want to bring my wife there with me. Yet, he can work in the same company where he works with now. He said, he can move to the branch of the company in Western Australia. Imagine, which one becoming my priority? Gaining master degree or earning much money? Here I am….he..h.e.h.e.he.

But you know, what is in my mind right now? I want to own a business. But I am becoming a Teacher in Politeknik Batam. I'm a Goal Seeker. How difficult to be Goal Getter, isn’t it?
